Pansament (translates as Band-aid) was a garage band formed around guitar and bass player Ernst Hübner, initially in his living room, then moved down to the basement.
Besides Ernst, original members included drummer Csaba "Laca" Máthe, guitarist Adrian Tudose and singer Jimi Cionca. Yet, quite often, various other musicians joined the jam sessions.
The band had no name nor embraced any particular musical gender.
Things get worst with the joining of Attila Kárpáthy (aka Attila Blága, Ticke, Brushvox). The music style got a massive punk and metal infusion, and structured songs slowly replaced the endless improvisations.
Other long or short-term members included Călin Garcea and Constantin Drăgan bass and Kuky Gherman guitars.
Punk Ain't Dead was inspired by Anthrax's I'm the Man and was a fun piece to play at rehearsals. Thus, once the spirit was released from the bottle by playing the song at a gig, it quickly became a public favourite.
This version of the song was recorded in Bucharest at the Migas Real Studios in 1991 by:
Attila Kárpáthy - vocals.
Ernst Hübner - guitars and vocals.
Adrian Tudose - guitars.
George Nemeznic - bass.
Darius Neagu - drums.
Life behind the so-called Iron Curtain, especially in Romania, is unimaginable for a normal human being. However, with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, an era came to an end.
Bucharest, December 22, 1989, the crowd gathered on the streets goes through the security cordon formed by the armed forces and reaches the headquarters of the Central Committee of PCR. The mob gets increasingly angry. At 12.05 PM, Nicolae Ceausescu, president and leader of the communist party, flees with a helicopter from the rooftop. The rest is history.
